Herd
Four horses, and the work is theirs as much as ours. They are not equipment and they are not a backdrop: each one meets a person differently, and which of them is in the pen changes what a session can do.
Sophie
The Lead Mare
Sophie is a chestnut mare standing just over sixteen hands. She is the largest horse in the herd, though her real size shows up in presence rather than height. It was Sophie who first revealed a gift for this work: an unusual sensitivity to the people around her, and a rare ability to take in someone's anxious or unsettled energy and hand it back grounded and calm. She remains, in every sense, the horse the practice was built around.
